This article aims to explore the themes of love and Partition in the poems of Amrita Pritam, one of the most celebrated voices in 20th century Indian literature. Her poetry reflects profound emotional depth and strong social consciousness, addressing themes such as love, separation, pain, longing, womanhood, and the trauma of the Partition of India in 1947. Through lyrical expression and personal experience, Pritam transformed individual suffering into a collective memory of loss and displacement. This research paper examines how the themes of romantic love and historical trauma intersect in her poetic works. It further highlights her feminist perspective and humanitarian vision, which continue to influence modern Indian literature. Her poetry remains a significant contribution to both Partition literature and women’s writing in India. The objectives of this study are to examine the theme of love in Amrita Pritam’s poems, to analyze the representation of Partition and trauma in her poetry, and to study the relationship between personal emotions and historical events in her works.
